Celine Dion―A New Day Has Come

Celine Dion, a world-famous singer, has succeeded in returning to the musical world after an absence of two years by releasing her new CD in March, this year. She had taken the decision to nurse her husband sick in bed and to have a baby rather than sing her songs in public. During that interval, which was meaningful for the woman who had devoted herself to singing for nine years after making her international debut, she had the wonderful experience of giving birth to her child in January, 2002, with the help of special medical pregnancy treatment, as well as spending a period of two years, from morning till night, with her family.

Celine's new song led to her appearance on a charity TV show ten days after the terrorist attack on September 11, because the song is full of hope for a "new day" in the true sense of the word. Her album, which contains A New Day Has Come, was put on sale throughout the world on March 25, 2002: to be precise, in North America on March 26, and in Japan on March 30. There is no doubt that the release of this album tells of the beginning of the second chapter of her life as a singer. The sales were rather small in Japan, but the United States witnessed strong sales --- the song won the first place in "Bill board 200" on April 13, and five hundred thousand copies were sold in the first week after the release. The song reached the sixth place on June 8, 2002, and remains in the top-ten of the ranking.

The song A New Day Has Come expresses Celine's own feeling: the greatest happiness of having her baby, which was a miracle she had been expecting for a long time. It fills her listeners with a deep emotion and the hope that they do not know how to express. While listening to this song, they will find that it depicts the great joy felt at the moment when Celine gave birth to her baby. Having a baby is without doubt "the moment of supreme blessing," which we cannot express in words, and is at the same time the beginning of a new day. She said, "I'd be most grateful if listeners would interpret my song with their own feelings."
